Buy Your Own Thermostat (BYOT) Program
Do you want a smart thermostat but don't love the idea of shelling a Benjamin up front to get it? Not to worry, we've got you covered through our 'Buy Your Own Thermostat' (BYOT) Program!
We want to help more Texans to be able to unlock our cheapest pricing and lower energy bills with Intelligent Octopus, but we recognize some homes don't have a thermostat (or an eligible one). So we wanted to make it super easy for customers unlock cheaper power with minimal upfront costs.
You can finance a thermostat through us, with no interest and it's yours to keep once it's paid off.
Here's how it works:
1) You let us know you want a thermostat and installation. (Please fill out the form below!)
2) We'll either send you your thermostat and/or work with one of our trusted installation partners to get you setup.
3) Once the device (s) is installed, you'll need to enroll into Intelligent Octopus and stay connected while on supply.
4) That's all! Once your device is connected to Intelligent Octopus, you'll immediately unlock our lowest energy rate from that day moving forward. You'll see your BYOT charge on your monthly statement until your device (s) and installation (if you opt for it) is paid off.
Here's how the costs breakdown:
Right now, this program is only available with Sensi Lite thermostats (a $100 value).
- If you're a current customer, you'll pay the cost of the thermostat divided by the number of months remaining in your contract with us.
- If you're a new customer, you'll pay the cost of the thermostat divided by the number of months on your 12-month contract.
Note: You can purchase up to two Sensi Lite thermostats with us, so to calculate your costs just double your cost for one thermostat.
If you don't fancy yourself a DIYer and won't be able to install the thermostat yourself, we can help with that too. Installation for one thermostat is $120, with an additional $75 if you want a second thermostat installed. But of course, you'll be able to divvy up the installation cost over the course of your contract with us.
- If you're a current customer, you'll pay the cost of the installation divided by the number of months left on your contract.
- If you're a new customer, you'll pay the cost of the installation divided by the number of months on your 12-month contract.
